Your internet decides this, not the feature list

Vyapar and myBillBook (by FloBiz) are both Bengaluru-based Indian vendors selling GST billing software to the same shopkeeper, and on paper their feature lists overlap almost completely. Comparing them feature by feature produces a tie, which is why most comparisons you will read pick a winner arbitrarily.

The one structural difference that actually changes your day is where your data lives. Vyapar stores billing data on the device and keeps working when the connection drops — its own billing page pitches exactly that: "Internet down? No problem." myBillBook is cloud-connected and states plainly that an active internet connection is required for syncing and for its online features.

The second structural difference is how each one charges. Vyapar licenses per device: two counters means two licences. myBillBook charges per plan with a hard cap on users: one subscription syncs across unlimited devices, but Plus and Pro allow only one user plus a CA. So Vyapar gets expensive as you add counters, and myBillBook hits a ceiling as you add people.

Answer those two questions — how reliable is your internet, and how many people bill — and the choice makes itself.

When Vyapar is the better choice

If you run a single-counter kirana, general store or roadside retail shop where the connection drops several times a day, Vyapar is the safer buy. Billing continues through an outage instead of stopping, and for a counter with a queue that is worth more than any feature on either list.

Vyapar is also the better fit if you sell serialised goods — mobile phones, electronics, appliances — because it tracks item serial numbers and reports on them. myBillBook does not advertise serial tracking on any plan.

And if you are testing the water with no budget, Vyapar has a genuinely free Android tier. Invoices carry Vyapar branding and there is no sync, but a solo shopkeeper can bill on it indefinitely without paying.

Vyapar is the wrong choice if you have two or more billing counters running at once. Each one needs its own licence, and at ₹3,799–₹4,399/year per desktop licence that adds up faster than myBillBook's single plan.

When myBillBook is the better choice

If your shop has reliable broadband or stable 4G and the owner bills from a phone while a helper bills from a desktop, myBillBook is cheaper and simpler. One Plus subscription at ₹3,490/year syncs across unlimited devices; the equivalent on Vyapar means buying a licence for each device.

It is also the lower entry price for a solo shopkeeper who is comfortably online: ₹291/month billed annually undercuts Vyapar Silver Desktop (₹3,799/year) and Desktop + Mobile (₹4,399/year), and includes an online store on the entry plan.

For a small two-outlet chain, Pro Max covers 2 businesses and 3 users plus a CA on one plan, and it is the tier that unlocks e-invoicing, e-way bills and POS billing. Note that the tier is quoted only as "starts at ₹570/month" — the annual total and the price of extra users or businesses are not published, so you will have to ask their sales team.

myBillBook is the wrong choice if your internet is unreliable, if you need more than three logins, or if you track serial numbers.

Where the two are genuinely equal

It is worth being clear about what is not a differentiator, because both vendors market these as though they were: GST-compliant invoicing and GSTR reports, barcode scanning at the counter, batch and expiry tracking, low-stock alerts, sharing invoices over WhatsApp, thermal and A4 printing, and availability on Android, iOS and desktop. Both gate multi-godown stock above their entry tier. Both are Indian vendors with phone support and a seven-day risk-free window.

If a comparison tells you one of these is a reason to pick one over the other, check it against both vendors' own pricing pages before you believe it.

The pricing details neither vendor puts in the headline

On Vyapar, the headline price is per platform and per device. Every tier sells in three variants — Android, Desktop, and Desktop + Mobile — and the gap is large: Silver is ₹699/year on Android but ₹3,799/year on desktop. Multi-device sync is a paid feature rather than the default, so a two-counter shop should budget for two licences plus sync, not one licence.

On myBillBook, the headline price assumes annual billing. Paying monthly on Plus costs ₹403 instead of ₹291 — roughly 40% more. The user cap is the real constraint: Plus and Pro are one user plus a CA, and adding people is only possible on Pro Max, whose extra-user price is not published anywhere on the site.

One naming note that trips up older comparisons: myBillBook renamed its tiers. What third-party articles still call Diamond, Platinum and Enterprise are now Plus, Pro and Pro Max. The prices did not change with the rename.

If the user limit is your real problem, look wider

Both of these tools price around a single biller. If your actual constraint is that four or five people — a cashier, a stock keeper, a manager and your accountant — all need their own login, neither model fits well: Vyapar bills you per device and myBillBook caps you at three users.
