Nidhi Import Costing — Landed Cost Software for Indian Importers
Nidhi Import Costing is landed cost software for Indian importers, at ₹399/month with unlimited users. Raise a purchase order in USD or EUR at a rate you record, track each container as a consignment, book the freight, duty and clearing bills as they arrive, and see what every item really cost in rupees.
What the goods cost to have here, not what the supplier invoiced.
An importer's goods do not cost what the supplier invoiced. Ocean freight, insurance, customs duty, port handling, the clearing agent and the truck from the port all arrive as separate bills, from different parties, weeks apart. Until they land on the goods, stock is valued at invoice price and your margin looks better than it is. Nidhi Import Costing fixes that. Purchase orders and bills can be struck in the supplier's currency at a rate you record. A consignment holds the purchase-order lines that travelled in one container. Every charge you book against it is split across those lines by value, quantity or volume, and re-split when a late bill arrives. The landed cost then flows into your stock valuation, and a goods-in-transit register shows what is still at sea and what it is worth so far. Available on the 399apps cloud or self-hosted.

Purchase orders in the supplier's currency
Raise a purchase order in USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SGD, AUD, CAD, JPY or CHF at a locked rate. The order PDF prints in the supplier's currency. The bill it becomes keeps that rate, and is recorded in rupees with the supplier's own figure shown beside it. No Indian GST is applied to a foreign supplier's document.
Your own exchange-rate register
Rates are typed by you, not fetched from a feed, so every figure on a purchase is one you can explain to your auditor. Each rate records who set it and from which date. A new purchase order starts from the latest rate for that currency, and you can always override it.
Consignments, one per container
Record each shipment with its vessel, container number, bill of lading, ports of loading and discharge, departure and arrival dates, and bill of entry number. One container can carry lines from two purchase orders, and one order can be split across two containers.
Freight, duty and clearing split onto the goods
Book ocean freight, insurance, customs duty, IGST on import, port handling, the clearing agent and inland transport against the consignment. Each charge is spread across the lines by value, quantity or volume, in its own currency and rate. The split adds up to the last paisa.
Late bills re-cost the goods automatically
The clearing agent always bills last. Booking, editing or removing a charge, adding or removing a line, or cancelling the shipment re-costs every line, and the change shows in the audit history. The consignment screen also lists which charge types are not booked yet.
Landed cost in your stock valuation
Allocated freight, duty and clearing join the weighted-average cost in the stock valuation report. Buy at ₹100 a unit with ₹20 of charges and stock is valued at ₹120. The item page shows landed cost per unit beside the purchase price, so you see both.
Goods-in-transit register
Every consignment that is in transit or at customs, with its expected date, destination warehouse, and value as goods plus the charges booked so far. Filter by warehouse and by arrivals in the next 7, 14, 30 or 90 days. It is a planning register, not stock: nothing here can be sold until it is received.
Landed cost report
Purchase price against landed cost, by consignment or by item: total charges, landed cost per unit, and the uplift over the supplier's price. This is the number you need before you set a selling price on an imported item.
Fit check
Who Nidhi Import Costing is for — and who it is not for.
Landed cost matters a lot if you import and not at all if you buy locally. Read this before you add the app.
It fits if
You buy from overseas suppliers
If your purchase orders go out in dollars or euros and the goods come in containers, you need the order, the bill and the stock value to agree in rupees. That is what this app does.
Freight and duty are a big share of your cost
If charges add 15–30% on top of the supplier's price, valuing stock at invoice price overstates your margin by that much. Landed cost puts those charges on the items that carried them.
You need to know what is still at sea
If your buyers plan cash and your shed manager plans space around arriving containers, the goods-in-transit register answers "what lands in the next fortnight, and what is it worth".
It does not fit if
You buy only from Indian suppliers
Rupee purchases with GST invoices do not need an FX or landed-cost layer. Nidhi Books and Nidhi Inventory cover purchasing and stock — do not pay for this app to leave it empty.
You want customs filing or live exchange rates
This app does not file your bill of entry, connect to ICEGATE, or pull rates from a live feed. You record the bill of entry number and the rate yourself. Your customs broker still files with customs.
You need a full import ERP
Import Costing covers foreign-currency purchasing, consignments, landed cost and goods in transit. It does not write import IGST into your GST returns, and stock is valued at weighted average, not FIFO. If you need letters of credit, import licences or multi-company consolidation, a full ERP such as SAP Business One will fit you better.
Kavanikkavum. Nidhi Import Costing reads the purchase orders and bills you raise in Nidhi Books, so the two run together — ₹399 + ₹399 = ₹798/month with unlimited users. To receive the goods into stock and see landed cost in your stock valuation, add Nidhi Inventory — ₹1,197/month for all three.
Compared
Nidhi Import Costing vs an Excel costing sheet, TallyPrime additional cost and Zoho Inventory landed cost.
Most importers already work out landed cost somewhere. This is what changes when you move it into Nidhi Import Costing, and when you should not.
vs an Excel landed-cost sheet
The sheet is not your stock value
A costing sheet tells you what a container cost, but stock in the books stays at the supplier's price unless someone re-enters it. In Nidhi Import Costing the allocated freight, duty and clearing join the stock valuation directly.
Late bills mean re-doing the sheet
When the clearing agent bills a week after arrival, the sheet has to be reworked by hand. Here you book the charge against the consignment and every line is re-costed, with the change in the audit history.
Nobody has to remember the rate
The exchange rate on each purchase order comes from your own rate register, with who set it and from which date. A sheet holds whatever rate was typed into that cell.
vs TallyPrime additional cost of purchase
Tally spreads costs inside one voucher
TallyPrime can add freight or other costs to a purchase voucher and appropriate them by quantity or by value, per its help pages. Its additional-cost documentation does not describe re-costing goods when a separate bill from another party arrives later.
A container, not a voucher, carries the charges
In Import Costing a consignment holds lines from one or several purchase orders, with its vessel, container number and bill of entry number. Freight, duty and clearing are booked against it and split by value, quantity or volume.
Keep Tally for the books if you like
Import Costing reads purchase orders and bills from Nidhi Books (₹399 + ₹399 = ₹798/month). If your accountant files from TallyPrime, moving the accounts is a separate decision.
vs Zoho Inventory landed cost
Zoho costs a bill, Nidhi costs a shipment
Zoho Inventory's landed cost feature allocates charges to the items on a bill by value or quantity, and a freight bill can be applied to another bill, per Zoho's help article. Nidhi Import Costing allocates across every purchase-order line in a container, including lines from two different orders.
Goods at sea have their own register
Nidhi's goods-in-transit register lists every consignment in transit or at customs, with its expected date, destination warehouse and value so far. Zoho's landed cost article does not describe a register of goods still at sea.
Choose Zoho if one bill is the whole story
If every import arrives on one supplier bill and you only add freight to it, Zoho Inventory's bill-level landed cost may be all you need, especially if you already run Zoho Books.
Kavanikkavum. Competitor details are from TallyPrime's additional-cost-of-purchase help page and Zoho Inventory's landed cost help article as read on 2026-10-25. Check their current versions before you decide. Neither Nidhi Import Costing nor these tools file your bill of entry; your customs broker still does.
I import from China in USD and pay freight and customs duty separately — how do I find the real cost of each item? +
Raise the purchase order in USD at your rate, then create a consignment for the container and add the order lines that travelled in it. Book the freight, insurance, duty, port handling and clearing bills against the consignment as they arrive. Each charge is split across the lines by value, quantity or volume, and the landed cost report shows the cost per unit and the uplift over the supplier's price.
Does it pull exchange rates automatically? +
No, and that is deliberate. You record the rate yourself in the exchange-rate register, with the date it applies from. Every purchase then carries a rate you can justify to your auditor. A new order starts from the latest rate you recorded for that currency, and you can change it on the order.
The clearing agent's bill came a week after the goods arrived — will my costs be wrong? +
No. Book the charge when it arrives and the whole consignment is re-costed. Every line's share moves, the stock valuation picks up the new figure, and the change shows in the audit history. The consignment screen also lists which charge types are still not booked.
How do I handle IGST paid at customs? +
Book it as an "IGST on import" charge. If you can claim it as input credit, tick "Reclaimable as input credit" and it is left out of the goods' cost. If you cannot claim it, leave it unticked and it becomes part of the landed cost. The app does not file or change your GST returns.
One container has goods from two different purchase orders — can I split the freight? +
Yes. A consignment is built from purchase-order lines, not whole orders, so one container can carry lines from several orders, and one order can be split across two containers. Each charge is spread across whatever lines are loaded on that consignment.
Can I see goods that are still at sea in my stock? +
They appear in the goods-in-transit register, not in stock. That register shows each consignment in transit or at customs, its expected date and its value so far. Goods only enter stock when you receive them into a warehouse, so nobody can sell a container that has not landed.
Do I need Nidhi Books and Nidhi Inventory as well? +
Yes. Import Costing reads the purchase orders and bills you raise in Nidhi Books, so the two run together for ₹798/month. To receive the goods into stock and see landed cost in your stock valuation, add Nidhi Inventory — ₹1,197/month for all three, with unlimited users.
I already add freight to purchase vouchers in TallyPrime. Why would I use Nidhi Import Costing? +
TallyPrime spreads the costs you enter on a purchase voucher across its items. Import Costing works at the container level: one consignment can hold lines from several purchase orders, freight, duty and clearing bills from different parties are booked against it as they arrive, and every line is re-costed when a late bill lands. It also keeps a goods-in-transit register. If every import arrives on one voucher with its costs known, TallyPrime may be enough.
What does Nidhi Import Costing cost? +
₹399/month on the 399apps cloud, like every other app, with unlimited users and no limit on consignments or charges. Self-hosted deployment is available on the same product.
